Kindling #9: Contrast brings Clarity

Transcript:

Good morning, how are you?

So it’s Sunday morning and I’m out in the forest here just to breathe, just to reenergise myself.

Last week I was in in Dubai again, I’ve been there quite a lot over the last couple of months and it’s cool but it’s such a weird place, you know it’s an artificial world borne, out of stand in the last couple of decades where everything is the world’s largest the world’s longest, it’s hubris to a level where it’s ridiculous.

I compare it to Las Vegas, you know, it’s cool to have been there but no need to go back, but I really appreciate having the opportunity to go to places like this and the reason is very simple: Contrast brings Clarity.

The best thing about Dubai for me is that it really makes me appreciate the lifestyle I have here in Czech Republic.

Contrast brings Clarity.

When I talk to clients and friends about life the conversation often goes into being unfulfilled, about that void in the heart, that pain of feeling that there’s got to be something more to that life than this, and is very often about doing something different at work, work with something different, bringing something else at the world than that unfulfilling tedious tasks that you get up to do every day, five days a week.

So then I ask them: “Okay, so what do you want to do instead?” and their answer is often: “Well I don’t know and I can’t start until I know.”

But you know, you cannot figure out your way in life sitting in your couch at home behind your laptop, you can’t Google the answer to what it is that will make you fulfilled, you have to get out there and do things, and you gonna fail, you’re gonna make the wrong choices you’re gonna find out that the thing that you thought you were passionate about it quickly fades away, you have to change track, maybe dig deeper, but that’s exactly what helps you to refine the path because contrast brings clarity.

The more clear you become on what it is you don’t want to do, the fewer options there is left to do, so it’s about trial and error, it’s about exposing yourself to situations we can test if your idea of fulfilment actually resonates with your heart, because clarity comes from contrast.

So how does this apply to your life?

Are you in a situation where you’re unfulfilled, where you want to do something different and if that’s so what are doing to contrast that situation? What new ventures are you throwing yourself into?

Whether it’s as simple as choosing strawberry ice cream instead of vanilla ice cream or if it’s about to taking up arts classes to contrast your profession as an accountant?

You have to expose yourself to new things, you have to make bets, some of the bets will fail, and you realise, okay art classes and strawberry ice cream is definitely not what I want in life.

Great! You can tick those off and you can pursue the other options and go through the same process again, and then, step by step, over time you’ll figure out what resonates with your heart and what will make you fulfilled!

Take care, ciao!

Kindlings are my way of keeping myself accountable for breathing the fire that’s in my soul and I hope to inspire others to do the same in the process.

The word kindling means a small and dry, easily flammable material to help a fire get going. Once the kindling is burning, it can ignite the larger pieces of wood in your fire.

That’s is what aspire to do – Help you start your fire so you experience the warmth of your soul and feel inspired to keep feeding the fire that’s in your soul.
